Copyright and Licensing

COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING

Authors who publish in the Journal of Innovation and Development (JID) retain copyright of their work and are not required to transfer copyright ownership to the journal or its publisher.

By publishing in JID, authors grant the journal non-exclusive publishing rights to publish, reproduce, distribute, make available online, and preserve their articles.

Key Principles

  • Authors retain copyright of their published work.
  • The journal is granted non-exclusive publishing rights.
  • All published articles are licensed under CC BY 4.0.
  • No additional restrictions are applied that conflict with the license.

Copyright Ownership

Authors retain ownership of copyright in their articles. Publication in JID does not affect their rights of attribution or other applicable rights. Neither the journal nor its publisher requires copyright transfer as a condition of publication.

License

All articles published in JID are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under this license, readers and other users may:

  • copy, share, and redistribute articles in any medium or format;
  • remix, transform, and build upon the published material;
  • use the material for academic, educational, and commercial purposes.

Users must give appropriate credit to the original authors and publication source, provide a link to the license, and indicate whether changes have been made.

No Additional Restrictions

JID does not impose legal, technical, or contractual restrictions that conflict with the CC BY 4.0 license or prevent the lawful access, distribution, or reuse of published articles.

Self-Archiving and Repository Policy

Authors may deposit the submitted version, accepted manuscript, and published Version of Record of their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, or other repositories of their choice.

No embargo period applies. Authors may archive the relevant version as soon as it becomes available, without a mandatory waiting period.

When depositing the published Version of Record, authors should provide the full citation, DOI (if assigned), and a link to the original article published in JID. All archived versions remain subject to applicable copyright and licensing requirements.

Third-Party Materials

Authors are responsible for ensuring that images, tables, figures, research instruments, and other third-party materials included in their manuscripts can be lawfully published and distributed.

Where materials are not owned by the authors and are not covered by an applicable open license or another lawful basis for use, authors must obtain the necessary permissions before publication and acknowledge the sources. Third-party materials carrying separate copyright notices remain subject to their respective rights and permissions.

Display of Copyright and License Information

Copyright ownership and licensing information will be displayed on article landing pages and in the published full-text files, allowing readers, authors, and indexing services to identify the applicable conditions of use and reuse.

For questions regarding copyright, permissions, or licensing, please contact the editorial office of the Journal of Innovation and Development.
