Author Guidelines
Aims and Scope
The Journal of Innovation and Development (JID) welcomes original academic research related to innovation and development in technology, economics, management, education, society, culture, ecology, and sustainable development.
Manuscripts should present clear research questions, appropriate research methods, and well-supported academic arguments, with identifiable theoretical or practical contributions. The journal accepts empirical studies, theoretical research, and practice-based studies with academic value.
Manuscript Preparation
JID accepts manuscripts written in Chinese only. Manuscripts must be submitted as Microsoft Word files (.doc or .docx).
All submissions must include titles, abstracts, and keywords in both Chinese and English. Manuscripts should be organized according to their research type and will typically include an introduction, literature review or theoretical foundations, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, and references. Alternative structures may be adopted where appropriate.
All manuscripts must strictly follow the journal's manuscript template, including its content, structure, and formatting requirements. Manuscripts that do not comply with the template will be returned to the authors for revision and will not proceed to peer review until the requirements have been met.
Authors must provide complete information for all listed authors in the submission system, including their names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses. The author list, order, and relevant details must be consistent with those provided in the manuscript.
Publication Ethics and Academic Integrity
All submissions must be original research and must not have been formally published in the same or substantially similar form in another journal or be under consideration by another journal.
The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship, or other forms of academic misconduct. All submissions undergo routine similarity screening, and the overall similarity index should generally not exceed 30%. The editorial team will also consider the sources and nature of matched content when assessing similarity.
All listed authors must have made substantive contributions to the research and approved the submission. Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical approval and informed consent requirements. Authors must disclose potential conflicts of interest and relevant research funding.
Authors who use generative artificial intelligence to assist with substantive research or manuscript content must disclose its use in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy and remain fully responsible for the submitted content.
For detailed requirements concerning authorship, academic misconduct, similarity screening, research ethics, artificial intelligence, and other publication ethics matters, please refer to the journal's Publication Ethics and Editorial Policies.
Peer Review
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts meeting the journal's requirements proceed to single-blind peer review. Reviewers know the authors' identities, but their own identities are not disclosed to authors.
The journal normally invites at least two experts with relevant disciplinary expertise to review each manuscript. The editorial team makes decisions on acceptance, revision, or rejection based on manuscript quality and reviewer reports. Authors required to revise their manuscripts must address the editorial and reviewer comments and submit a corresponding response to the comments.
JID is committed to improving the efficiency of peer review and publication and aims to complete the peer review process and formally publish accepted manuscripts within 2–4 weeks of receiving a submission that meets the journal's requirements. Actual timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript revisions, and production requirements.
Article Processing Charges
JID operates an open-access publishing model. All published articles are freely available for reading and downloading.
No submission or peer review fees are charged. An Article Processing Charge (APC) applies only after formal acceptance. The base APC is CNY 580 per article, covering up to eight pages in the journal's publication layout. Each additional page beyond eight pages incurs a charge of CNY 50. For details, please refer to the Article Processing Charges page.
The page count is determined from the publication-ready layout confirmed by the editorial office. Payment instructions will be provided after formal acceptance.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright to their published works and grant the journal non-exclusive publication rights. All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under the license terms, readers may freely access, download, copy, distribute, and reuse published articles, provided that appropriate credit is given to the authors and the source and license information are acknowledged.
Manuscript Withdrawal
Authors wishing to withdraw a manuscript must submit a written request through the journal's official contact channel, normally by the corresponding author, and provide the reason for withdrawal.
Withdrawal requests after formal acceptance and the handling of any APC payments already made are subject to the journal's applicable policies.
